Kareen earned her MA in Theater with a Concentration in Drama Therapy at Kansas State University, and is a Registered Drama Therapist (RDT).

Kareen is founder of the sibling group, Awake! Awake! with whom she recorded four albums between 1993-1998.  Kareen is listed as a publisher with Christian Copyright Licensing, Inc. (CCLI) under Kareen King Publishing.

Kareen's new album, "The Person in the Picture Ain’t Me", produced at Awestruck Studios, was released in October 2007. It features original songs inspired by her work as a Registered Drama Therapist at Brookside Retirement Community in Overbrook, Kansas. The album provides the listener with an opportunity to walk in the shoes of those who have spent the last season of their lives in a nursing home. It shatters the negative stereotypes of older adults and gives voice to the human spirit no matter how aged the skin. She desires that this album will help us to view each other with deeper understanding and compassion.

The cover was designed by Brenda Cox and features Jewell Daniels as a 100-year-old and as a 15-year-old.

The CD can be ordered online here.
