My Mission:
To empower others toward compassionate care-giving, adventurous
aging, and creative expression
My Relevance to Your Association:
My presentations address the heart of person-centered care. Too
often in long-term or other care facilities, care-giving recipients
have been objectified or dehumanized. Cries for help are often
dismissed or ignored. Needs of the residents are sometimes viewed as
chores. Individual potential is often overlooked or minimized. I
confront these pitfalls in a way that empowers care-givers to take a
second look at the residents and their ability to experience an
enriching activity life. My original songs and stories stem from
experiences and conversations I’ve had with the residents I’ve
served, exposing their humanity and individuality. Staff members
return to their workplaces with greater love, compassion, energy,
creativity and vision.
